Grass and Heaven

Jasminka's Windy Home

Wind ... / Vetar ...

nošen vetrom
leptiri
ć upade u
more masla
čka

carried by the wind
a butterfly drops into
dandelions' sea

porté par le vent
un papillon tombe dans
une mer de pissentlits

(tr. S. Tome)

resko jauknu
fijukom niz liticu
strmoglav vetar

fiercely moaned the wind
whizzing, hissing down the cliff
steeper and deeper

sa hladnim vetrom
proleće sve - latice,
lišće, proleće

everything flies by
along with the cold wind -
petals, leaves and spring

u ritmu vetra
igraju lišće, senke -
varke proleća

with rhythm of wind
dancing leaves and shadows -
tricks of the spring

Pijan čovek? - Ne!
klanja se krošnja bora
kroti je vetar

A drunk man? - Oh no!
Bowing crown of a pine tree
obeys master wind.

gleda u nebo
podšišani maslačak -
eh, vetar, vetar

looking at the sky
dandelions with haircuts
oh, that wind, that wind

je regarde le ciel
les pissenlits avec leurs cheveux
oh, ce vent, ce vent

(tr. S. Tome)

klupa u parku -
vetar lista novine
usnulog starca

a bench in the park -
the wind browsing newspapers
of slipping old man

prolećni vetar
rasterao oblake -
sjatile se zvezde

June breeze
dispels clouds -
flock of stars

čudna zabava -
u polju vetar i
četiri strašila

strange party -
wind in the field
and four scarecrows

obilje leptira
nad obiljem masla
čka
uprkos vetru

wealth of buterflies
over wealth of dandelions
despite the wind

prvi jesenji dan
od jutros oko ku
će
kavez od vetra

first day of autumn -
wind makes a cold cage
all around the house

na očevom grobu
nikla prva trava -
nji
še je vetar

first grass
over father's grave -
tenderness of wind

korov i vetar -
du
ša samotnjaka je
ranjena ptica

the weeds and the wind -
soul of a lonely man
is a wounded bird
